| MSD Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD) Congress and events management solution |
Objective
| The origin of MSD goes back to the 17th century when Friedrich Jakob Merck opened the pharmacie "Engel" in Darmstadt, Germany. Today, MSD is part of Merck, a multinational corporation with headquarters in the United States. It discovers, develops, manufactures and markets vaccines and medicines in over 20 therapeutic categories.
Congresses and events are the primary channels for MSD to sell its innovative products. Support for their proprietary conference and events management application had ended and they needed a future-safe alternative urgently.
| Infonoia solution
| In collaboration with Cambridge Technology Partners, a Novell business, Infonoia migrated MSD's proprietary congress and events management application to Java open standards, in particular to Swing/DAO (Data Access Objects) and Java Web-Start.
| Benefits
| Cost savings as much shorter time to market compared to a manual rewrite: Use of Infonoia Migration cuts migration time by up to a third.
Satisfied users as the migrated application was seamlessly available - with the same features, thus requiring no user training.
The client can now maintain the application himself, without vendor lock-in.
